PITTSBURGH — Giant Eagle has expanded its partnership with DoorDash to offer consumers same-day grocery delivery services from all of its Giant Eagle supermarkets and Market District locations across Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, and West Virginia.
Following a pilot program with select Ohio stores in 2022, this partnership expansion allows all Giant Eagle shoppers to get groceries delivered in less than an hour, on average, the retailer said.
“Our partnership with DoorDash is just another way to conveniently order groceries from Giant Eagle, whether customers choose to use our longstanding, company-led curbside pickup and delivery service or the popular DoorDash platform,” said Justin Weinstein, Giant Eagle executive vice president, chief strategy and marketing officer. “We continue to see increased demand for fast and convenient grocery delivery, and we recognize that many shoppers have come to rely on DoorDash for their real-time grocery needs. This expanded partnership helps to ensure that customers across all our markets have access to the products in our supermarkets regardless of how they choose to shop with us.”
Giant Eagle said with the inclusion of its stores, more than 99% of DoorDash’s monthly consumers in the US have access to a grocery and convenience retailer, and the retailer’s loyalty program members’ benefits extend to the DoorDash platform.
“Giant Eagle’s myPerks loyalty program can be connected through the DoorDash app experience so members can continue to earn rewards when they shop through DoorDash,” the company said. “With this seamless integration, Giant Eagle customers can use their existing Advantage Card information when shopping the DoorDash Marketplace.”
Additionally, Giant Eagle is part of the DashPass program, so DoorDash members with the subscription can order groceries from Giant Eagle stores with a $0 delivery fee and reduced service fees when they meet the minimum subtotal requirement.
