At the Southeast Produce Council (SEPC)’s Southern Exposure on March 9, Yerington, Nev.-based Peri & Sons Farms featured its Earthbag for onions.

“This unique bag, made with paper/bamboo mesh, is biodegradable and compostable,” the company said. “It’s the type of responsible produce packaging that makes consumers happy today and makes the earth a better place tomorrow.”

The organic onion varieties available in the Earthbag packaging are yellow, white, red, sweet and combo.

Peri & Sons highlighted the following key features of its onion options:

  • 3-pound custom packed organics
  • UPC ensures accurate organic ring
  • Supports zero-waste initiatives
  • Encourages consumer recycling
  • Kid-friendly produce presentation
  • Sustainably farmed produce item

“Our new eco-friendly bag displays beautifully, and its functional light-weight design enhances freshness, shelf-life, and safety, all while reducing the impact on the planet,” the company said.

Peri & Sons also showcased its Gourmet Organic Shallots at the show, which are available in recyclable, biodegradable boxes.
