Wilton, a global leader in baking and decorating, has relaunched and relocated its school. Previously known as “The Wilton School of Cake Decorating and Confectionary Art” the new facility has become the “Wilton Sweet Studio,” and will be located inside Wilton headquarters in Naperville, Illinois. Beginning August 17, the facility will host in-person classes ranging in topic, skill and age.
Since its inception in 1929, Wilton has been a pioneer in providing baking and decorating education, including the Wilton Method of Cake Decorating, a registered trademark, which offers a systematic icing approach and enables professional results for bakers of all skill levels. By bringing education to its headquarters, Wilton aims to create a more immersive and dynamic learning environment for its students.
“We’re proud to relaunch the Wilton Sweet Studio as education has always been at the core of Wilton's mission. Our founder Dewey McKinley Wilton began this company in 1929 as a way to share his skills with American Buttercream, cake decorating, and more with his community, ” says Declan O’Leary, president of Wilton Brands. “We believe that today, people need that inspiration to embrace the joy of baking now more than ever. Through the new Wilton Sweet Studio, we continue Dewey Wilton’s legacy by empowering everyone with the skills and knowledge to create fun and delicious treats.”
In-person classes at the Wilton Sweet Studio will include over 30 different classes for beginner and advanced makers of all ages. Each student will learn at their own workstation with all tools and materials provided, ensuring they grasp each technique. Some of the classes include:
- In My Frosting Era: A Taylor Swift-inspired class, where students will learn how to go from 'Blank Space' to a master decorator in no time.
- Night Out Class Options: Several night options are available for students to mingle, enjoy a cocktail or mocktail and have fun while learning to decorate an array of cupcake cakes in fun themes.
- Masters Series: The Masters Series class bundle is an opportunity to take baking and decorating skills to the next level. This two-week immersive course includes an official Wilton Sweet Studio certificate and chef’s jacket upon completion.
“Our team is eagerly anticipating the opening of the Wilton Sweet Studio. We are excited to unveil our new facility and cannot wait to welcome students back into the classroom,” says Gwen Seeley, education strategy manager at Wilton. “However, we recognize not everyone can join us in person. So stay tuned for some exciting online options to come later this year!"
