In today’s economy, Tyson Foods continues to see a shift in consumer spending from foodservice to retail, said Chandler Steele, senior manager of fresh meats innovation.

“Shoppers are cutting back on eating out and are looking to recreate the foodservice experience at home at a lower price. Customers have responded quite favorably to the value-forward pricing model, as they do not have to sacrifice flavor for affordability or convenience.”

Tyson’s Pork Griller Steak, in particular, Steele said, provides a high-quality protein, bold-flavored meal at a great price that consumers love.

Pack sizes and net weight targets also play a crucial role in offering shoppers more options and versatility, including value pricing, Steele said.

That’s especially important for Millennial and Gen Z consumers, who value saving time and money.

“A retailer can tailor to these shoppers by offering thin cut options, like strips or cubes, so there are a variety of portion sizes and products that fit their lifestyles.”

And, he added, these cuts only take 10 to 15 minutes or less to cook, which helps to build more confidence in cooking protein for future meal occasions.
