Deli-quality slices, cubes, shreds and other value-added cheeses are enjoying a boom, thanks to high demand from consumers who want more convenience but aren’t willing to sacrifice when it comes to quality.
Cheese consumers want more convenience and more flavor, said BelGioioso Cheese’s Sofia Krans.
“At first BelGioioso was selling whole wheels, then 1/2s and 1/4s,” Krans said. “Now we try prepare the cheese in the way the consumers are using it in their recipes for added convenience. Consumers love the convenience of sliced, diced, shaved, grated, crumbled and snack.”
BelGioioso offers a wide variety of sliced product, including Fresh Mozzarella, Mild Provolone, Sharp Provolone, Fontina, Asiago and its Italian Cheese Board, which includes sliced Mild Provolone, Fontina, Parmesan and Asiago.
Sliced Baking Fresh Mozzarella 1-pound log, Parmesan-Romano Blend Grated & Shaved Twist Tie Bags and pre-sliced Scamorza-Rella for snacking are among the many other sliced, grated or otherwise cut products BelGioioso markets.
And beyond sliced/grated/cut, BelGioioso has value-added products like its Artigiano line, which comes in four varieties: Vino Rosso(red wine), Aged Balsamic & Cipolline Onion, Blueberry, and Blood Orange.
The company also offers Fresh Mozzarella Ciliegine Marinated, packed in cups and available in two flavors: Herbs & Oils and Fresh Basil & Garlic in oil. Natural Hickory Smoked Fresh Mozzarella ball, Espresso flavored Mascarpone, Fresh Mozzarella Prosciutto Basil Roll, Provolone Salame Rolls and — newest of all — Fontina & Pepperoni Roll are other value-added options from BelGioioso.
