Plant protein specialist Lightlife’s latest product line provides a meat-free alternative to deli lunch meats.
Turners Fall, Massachusetts-based Lightlife’s veggie deli slice products contain 11 grams of plant protein and come in two varieties, White Bean & Kale and Chickpea & Red Pepper. The products, which retail for $3.29-3.59, are currently available only at Whole Foods Market stores, but they will be available at other retailers soon.
Lightlife’s veggie deli slices join a product roster which also includes vegetarian deli versions of turkey, pepperoni, ham and bologna slices and Smart Dogs, Smart Ground and Tempeh. All of the company’s products are non-GMO, vegan and free of cholesterol and trans fats.
"We've taken familiar foods and flavors, like hummus and kale, to create something fun, delicious and unexpected in an effort to bring new consumers into the booming plant protein category," Brad Lahrman, vice president of marketing for Lightlife, says in a news release. "With back-to-school season right around the corner, the veggie deli slices provide vegans, vegetarians and flexitarians with more variety when it comes to amping up their lunch routine."
