An Ohio meat company has recalled deli meats and other meats that were produced using contaminated water.
Shiloh, Ohio-based Newswanger Meats recalled more than 2,000 pounds of meat after water tested positive for coliform bacteria and didn’t meet Ohio Department of Health requirements, according to media reports. “Various sliced deli meats” were among the recalled products, according to the reports.
The meats were produced Oct. 4-6 and bear the establishment number EST.151 inside the Ohio mark of inspection, according to the reports. The lot codes of the affected products are 17J04, 17J05, 17J06 and OCT0517. Meats were sold at two Cleveland retailers, Ohio City Provisions and Fresh Fork Market, and through Newswanger’s retail store in Shiloh.
As of Oct. 8, no illnesses related to the affected product had been reported.
