Southeastern grocery giant Publix is opening a store on a college campus that will be heavy on retail foodservice items.
Construction has begun on the new store on the Tampa campus of the University of South Florida. The 28,000-square-foot store will have indoor and outdoor seating and a plethora of instore deli and bakery items and prepared foods, says Maria Brous, director of media and community relations for Lakeland, Florida-based Publix.
The store “will offer plenty of fresh grab-and-go options, including our world-famous Publix subs, deli teas, decadent desserts and sushi,” Brous says.
Publix has about 1,167 stores in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia.
