NEW ORLEANS — Lindsay Anderson — from Lunds & Byerlys in Minneapolis, Minnesota — was named the winner of IDDBA's 23rd annual Cake Decorating Challenge as the show concluded on Tuesday.
Natasha Damm, from Garden Home Market Place in Portland, Oregon, and Randy Stratton, from Dillons in Wichita, Kansas, placed second and third, respectively.
The competition spanned all three days of the IDDBA '18 and included filling an eight-foot bakery case with cakes, two custom cakes built around the theme of New Orleans' 300th anniversary, and lastly, a tiered wedding cake.
Stratton won the People's Choice Award on Sunday, while Anderson and Damm won the award Monday and Tuesday, respectively. New this year was the Best Tasting Cake Award, judged by Joshua John Russell from in2food and awarded to Damm on Sunday.
The cake decorating judges were Dawn Sweezey from Rich Products Corporation and Dustin Humpherys from Weston Foods.
