Wegmans, inching closer to 100 stores, has set a timeline and has begun hiring for its entrance in the New York City.
The company will open its Brooklyn Navy Yard location this fall and says it is now hiring for he approximately 500 locations — including 150 full-time — that it will need to operate the store.
"Here at Wegmans, you drive your own development and the opportunities are truly what you make of them," says Kevin Cuff, manager of the Brooklyn location. "You are more than just a number. You are a family member who has a voice and an opportunity to do whatever it is you are passionate about."
The new store will span 74,000 square feet, including a second-floor mezzanine with nearly 100 seats for the instore market cafe. The mezzanine will also include a bar that will serve food and drink.
Wegmans now operates 98 stores in six states and has more than 48,000 employees company-wide. The company also plans to open new markets in Virginia Beach, Virginia and Raleigh, North Carolina this year.
