OAK BROOK, ILL. — Dean General has been named senior vice-president and chief commercial officer of TreeHouse Foods, Inc. Mr. General brings more than 30 years of consumer packaged goods industry experience to the role.
He joins the company from Newell Brands, where he most recently was global customer development lead. Previously, he held leadership roles at Kraft Heinz Co. and Kraft Foods for nearly 20 years, establishing senior relationships with key national customers, including Walmart and Kroger and overseeing cross-functional teams for various businesses and divisions across North America.
Mr. General began his career at General Mills, serving in numerous sales and corporate development roles. He has a bachelor of science degree in commerce from Rider University.
“Our ability to improve our customer relationships and deliver on their expectations by being both operationally and commercially excellent is fundamental to our success,” said Steve Oakland, chief executive officer and president of TreeHouse Foods. “Dean will lead our commercial excellence efforts as we strengthen our capabilities. We plan to build on his prior success driving customer strategies to support best-in-class commercial initiatives.
“In his more than 30 years of consumer packaged goods experience, Dean has developed excellent relationships across the retailer landscape, and we are delighted to welcome him to TreeHouse.”
TreeHouse Foods recently announced a reorganization of its business structure and sales department to make it easier for customers to interact with all aspects of the company rather than representatives from different divisions. The reorganization merges the company’s Meals and Condiments business units to create four business units around beverages, baked foods, snacks and the center of the store.
