Amazon has official taken its Go supermarket to New York. The online giant opened an Amazon Go location on Vesey Street in New York on Monday after opening stores in San Francisco, Chicago and Seattle.
The New York location is the first Go store to accept cash. The previous locations only accept payment through the Amazon Go app, a move that was meant to speed up the shopping experience. Backlash against cashless systems may have impacted the company's decision to test accepting cash in the New York location.
The store has 1,300 square feet of retail space and includes ready-to-eat meals from Amazon's kitchen team.
