The Kroger Co., along with online grocery retailer Ocado, announced plans for a new customer fulfillment center (CFC) in Forest Park, Ga. The company said its $55 million facility will create more than 400 new jobs.
Kroger has committed to building 20 C.F.C.s powered by Ocado to bolster its e-commerce business. The CFC model, an automated warehouse facility with digital and robotic capabilities, will be replicated across the country. The company broke ground on the first center in Monroe, Ohio, last month.
“The new facility will provide Kroger the ability to bring customers across the coverage area fresher food faster than ever before,” says Tim Brown, president of Kroger's Atlanta division.
