Meijer is expanding its new checkout option to all of its Ohio locations. The Grand Rapids, Michigan-based retailer's Shop & Scan mobile app allows consumers to shop and bag as they go, giving them the chance to avoid lines and personalize shopping visits depending on the day.

Shoppers scan bar codes and bag their own groceries. A running total of items purchased is viewable as they shop. When the consumer completes their shopping, they scan their phone a a self-checkout lane and pay.

"We're all challenged by time and busy schedules, so Shop & Scan allows customers the opportunity to truly be in control of their shopping trip, from the moment they walk in our stores to the minute they walk out," says Tom Wilson, Meijer's regional vice president. "Customers are appreciative of the simplicity of scanning and bagging as they go because they can save time and avoid lines, speeding up their checkout experience."

The service is now available at 179 of Meijer's 245-plus locations in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan and Wisconsin.
