Jason Potter has been named as chief executive officer of The Fresh Market, Inc., Greensboro, NC, replacing Larry Appel who resigned the position after two and a half years at the helm of the company. 

Potter comes to The Fresh Market with over 30 years of experience, 26 of which he spent at the food retailer Sobeys, Inc. where he most recently served as the company’s executive vice president of operations.  

The new Fresh Market executive has an MBA from Athabasca University in Alberta, Canada, and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard. Potter was also named to Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 for Leadership, served as chairman for GIFT Atlantic Canada and was a board member of the Coca-Cola Research Council.
