SANTIAGO, CHILE – The SalmonChile Association has implemented several new protocols at salmon companies that partner with the association in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
Like many food production facilities, SalmonChile has implemented enhanced sanitation methods, preventative health control through temperature taking of associates, modification of lunch shifts to minimize density of people per facility, allowing higher-risk employees to stay home and modified travel protocols.
SalmonChile is also mandating that workers change clothes every hour. The association highlights that while they use high standards of sanitation and sterilization, the measure redoubles preventative efforts.
“The national situation requires the cooperation and collaborative work of all the actors,” said Tomás Monge, Territorial Director from SalmonChile. “For this reason, we are supporting with laser thermometers, disinfection products, footbaths and necessary facilities for the controls that are being carried out at the health borders.”
