BENTONVILLE, ARK. - Walmart is testing a self-checkout-only store at its Fayetteville, Ark., Walmart Supercenter, removing all conveyer belt lanes and replacing them with self-checkout counters.
The decision came out of a search to reimagine the shopping experience amid coronavirus (COVID-19). The goal of the self-checkout-only method is to speed up purchases and provide a safer shopping experience through less interaction.
If the test run is a success, the company may roll out self-checkout-only counters across the United States.
