IRVING, TEXAS — Sow Good Inc. is launching with its first product line of freeze-dried fruit and vegetable snacks and smoothies.
The Irving, Texas-based startup aims to help combat food waste with products that offer strong shelf stability. It uses freeze-drying technology to eliminate water from fruits and vegetables, resulting in a crisp product that maintains the flavors found during peak harvest and preserves more than 97% of the nutrients found in fresh produce, said Claudia Goldfarb, co-founder and chief executive officer.
“Nearly a year ago, our initial concept for Sow Good originated from a desire to snack healthily and frequently without the burden of fresh food spoilage,” Ms. Goldfarb said. “Today we are thrilled to see our ideas come to fruition and to share our passion for promoting growth in our community, economy and environment with nutrient-rich food that tastes good, stays good and does good.”
Sow Good’s first product line includes six ready-to-make smoothies and nine snacks. The smoothie lineup features a mix of new and familiar flavors, including acai relief (acai and blueberry), mint to be (banana, coconut and mint) and berry appeeling (banana and strawberry). The packaged snack lineup includes single-ingredient fruits and vegetables such as cherries, edamame and apples. The products are available direct-to-consumer online for $7.50 per smoothie and $5.25 per 1.5-oz snack bag.
