ORLANDO — The Little Potato Company’s newest innovation is a purple potato that actually gets more purple when it’s cooked, said David Yurko, the company’s regional sales manager for Western Canada.
Widely available in Canada, the product, dubbed Purely Purple, is currently expanding to retail shelves in the US, Yurko said.
Heavy volumes of the purple-skinned, purple-fleshed creamer were coming into the market this fall after limited supplies earlier in the year, Yurko said.
Shipping in a 1.5 pound bag, Purely Purple features a well-balanced, slightly exotic flavor that’s perfect for roasting or barbecuing.
