ANAHEIM, CALIF. — The International Dairy Deli Bakery Association (IDDBA) has three celebrities lined up to be general session speakers at the 2023 show June 4-6.
Tom Hanks: June 5
“Tom Hanks is an award-winning actor, producer, and director,” IDDBA said. “One of only two actors in history to win back-to-back Academy Awards for ‘Best Actor in a Leading Role,’ he won his first Oscar in 1994 for his moving portrayal of AIDS-stricken lawyer Andrew Beckett in Jonathan Demme’s ‘Philadelphia.’ The following year, he took home his second Oscar for his unforgettable performance in the title role of Robert Zemeckis’ ‘Forrest Gump.’”
Hanks is also known for his starring roles in “Big,” “Saving Private Ryan,” “Cast Away,” “You’ve Got Mail,” “Sleepless in Seattle,” the “Toy Story” movies and many more.
Alton Brown: June 5
“Peabody Award-winning cook, bestselling author, filmmaker, and TV personality Alton Brown is the beloved host of culinary classic shows like ‘Iron Chef America’ and ‘Cutthroat Kitchen,’” IDDBA said. “He created, wrote, and hosted ‘Good Eats’ as a leader of the first Food Network generation, revolutionizing culinary programming. The king of culinary competitions will return to Netflix’s reboot ‘Iron Chef: Quest for an Iron Legend.’ Brown is known for numerous bestselling cookbooks, including ‘I’m Just Here for the Food,’ ‘Alton Brown: EveryDayCook’, as well as his ‘Good Eats’ series – the fourth installment ‘Good Eats: The Final Years’ became an instant New York Times bestseller.”
Padma Lakshmi: June 4
“Padma Lakshmi is an Emmy-nominated food expert, television producer, host, and a New York Times best-selling author,” IDDBA said. “She is the creator of the critically acclaimed Hulu series ‘Taste the Nation,’ winner of the 2021 Critics Choice Award and 2022 James Beard Award. ‘Taste the Nation’ will return for a holiday seasonette in November 2021, and its second season will begin filming in early 2022. Lakshmi also serves as host and executive producer of Bravo’s two-time Emmy-winning series ‘Top Chef.’”
Lakshmi is also known for her philanthropic work as co-founder of the Endometriosis Foundation of America (EFA), an artist ambassador for immigrants’ and women’s rights through the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
