Zingerman’s Bakehouse, an artisanal retail and wholesale bakery and baking school in Ann Arbor, Michigan, has announced it will have two special cupcakes through the month of June to celebrate Juneteenth and Pride Month.
For Pride Month, the bakery is offering a chocolate cupcake topped with a festive rainbow swirl of vanilla Swiss buttercream. For Juneteenth, it is offering a red velvet cupcake iced with sweet cream cheese icing.
The Pride Month cupcake is the first in Zingerman’s Bakehouse Whole Community Cakes initiative. As longtime supporters of the value of diversity and inclusion, this is the bakery’s way of highlighting the diversity in its businesses and throughout the Ann Arbor community, and making these values more visible.
Zingerman’s Bakehouse was founded in 1992 by Frank Carollo and Zingerman’s Delicatessen founders, Ari Weinzweig and Paul Saginaw, with the intention of baking their own bread in house for the deli. Today, the artisanal retail and wholesale bakery and baking school is co-managed by Amy Emberling and Jaison Restrick.
