Hormel launches new heat-and-eat product line
ORANGE, CALIF. — Hormel Foods Co. salsa brand Herdez is expanding into prepared food with a line of Mexican refrigerated entrees.
Available in shredded chicken with mild chipotle sauce and carnitas slow cooked pork varieties, the heat-and-eat meals are aimed at consumers looking for convenient, at-home Mexican cuisine. The entrees contain 7 grams of protein per serving and are sold in 15-oz packages.
“With more and more people spending time cooking and entertaining at home, consumers are looking for affordable ways to bring timeless Mexican flavors to life in the comfort of their own kitchens,” said Daniel Collier, brand manager for Herdez’s Refrigerated Meats unit. “Our ready-to-serve Herdez Mexican Refrigerated entrees offer the simple and delicious convenience we know they want.”
The meals are rolling out in Publix and Hy-Vee locations across the nation this month, with plans for additional retail launches later this spring.
