IRWINDALE, CALIF. — Bonduelle Fresh Americas, producer of Ready Pac Bistro Bowls and Salad Kits, has launched a new addition to its Ready Pac portfolio in — Ready Pac Bistro Meal Kits.
The new plant-based meal kits come in the following three varieties:
- Teriyaki & Rice
- Chipotle & Quinoa
- Basil Pesto & Pasta
Each meal kit comes with the rice, quinoa, or pasta; a generous portion of fresh vegetables; and a flavorful sauce to tie it all together.
The portions in each kit can either make two entrées, or the meal kit can be used to make a side dish for a whole family. The meals can be prepared in less than five minutes, Bonduelle said.
While the kits make a fulfilling meal as-is, consumers can also choose to cook a separate protein and mix it in.
“We saw an opportunity to elevate the retail meal kit to restaurant quality and deliver a culinary experience that tastes delicious and looks great on the plate,” said Jeff Haines, director of culinary innovation and corporate executive chef, Bonduelle Fresh Americas. “Our Ready Pac Bistro Meal Kits provide a perfectly balanced combination of flavors and texture and are designed to be simple, quick and easy to prepare at home.”
According to Bonduelle, 77% of consumers would like a larger selection of fresh, plant-forward meal solutions available at their local grocery store, and 79% of consumers would like healthy plant-rich options that appeal to and can feed their whole family.
The company also said consumers reported that in a typical week, 96% of their total meal includes fresh vegetables in either the entrée or the side, all or most of the time.
The new Ready Pac Bistro Meal Kits are now available across the West Coast at retailers such as Albertsons, Gelsons, Bristol Farms, Smart and Final, Save Mart, and Stater Bros. The company plans to launch them nationwide in 2024.
