Sustainability will continue to be a cornerstone of Del Fresco Pure’s plans in 2025, said Ray Mastronardi, the company’s vice president of sales.
Reducing plastic usage, energy efficiency and biodiversity initiatives are the three lynchpins of that commitment.
“Consumers today are more environmentally conscious and seek sustainable food sources,” Mastronardi said. “Greenhouses can reduce the carbon footprint associated with traditional farming by minimizing land use and optimizing resource utilization. Many consumers prefer greenhouse produce as it aligns with their values of sustainability and conservation.”
Renewable energy sources Del Fresco Pure is committed to using include solar panels and wind turbines, which are increasingly being used to power greenhouses.
Another key component of the company’s sustainability plan is the use of water recycling systems, which capture and reuse water, minimizing waste and conserving resources. Doing so is not only good for the environment, it makes good business sense.
