Demand for natural and organic meats continues to surge at grocery retail, driven by the growing interest of consumers — especially Gen Zers — in health, sustainability, animal welfare and other issues.
In original research conducted in 2023, Coleman All Natural Meats found that consumers want to know that the meat products they are purchasing are free from antibiotics and added hormones, and they seek out products with these claims.
In addition, Coleman has found that consumers are looking for a wider range of natural pork products when it comes to flavors, sizes and cuts, said Patricia Bridges, the company’s senior director of marketing and communications.
“Because of pork’s versatility and affordability, we’ve seen increased demand for products that are simple to prepare and can be an easy, tasty ingredient for any meal. We also are seeing increased interest in our premium cuts, such as our long bone pork chops and frenched pork rib rack, for special occasions like holidays when people are looking to serve families and guests.”
Coleman’s all-natural fresh and prepared meats boast claims like no antibiotics ever or added hormones. As one of the largest humanely raised crate free pork producers and one of only two pork companies that are American Humane Certified, the company pioneers high standards for animal care.
The company’s portfolio consists of several products spanning premium varieties of bacon, rope sausage, ground pork, ham, heat-and-eat barbecue and all fresh pork cuts.
It’s a product roster that has evolved significantly over the years, Bridges said.
“Over the past few years we’ve expanded into branded packaged items, leading with our popular Hickory and Applewood bacons. We now have several packaged items, like our rope sausage and ground pork. We’re excited to introduce new flavors to our lineup to delight consumers at every meal.
Uncured smoked bacon is the company’s top seller. In addition to Hickory and Applewood, Coleman also sells a Hickory Smoked Turkey bacon.
Coleman’s pioneering legacy as an all-natural meat brand distinguishes it from others in the marketplace, Bridges said.
For Coleman, “natural” isn’t a trend, it’s who the company is and who they’ve been from the beginning. In 2025, the company is celebrating its 150th anniversary as an all-natural brand that’s been family farm-focused since its inception. “Our heritage in this space has allowed us to be leaders in standards and practices, which we believe create superior products with a quality that our consumers trust.”
