WEST DES MOINES, IOWA — All potato salad products with July 21-Aug. 4 expiration dates have been voluntarily withdrawn from Hy-Vee deli cases and grab-and-go refrigerator sections due to safety concerns.
The potatoes in the Hy-Vee Potato Salads and Mealtime Potato Salads had been processed on a line that was presumed to have a positive microbial result. Hy-Vee took immediate action on July 1 as a precautionary measure.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said the withdrawal included all sizes and varieties in, “Hy-Vee, Hy-Vee Drugstore and Dollar Fresh Market locations—as we well as Hy-Vee Fast and Fresh convenience stores—across the company’s eight-state region of Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin.”
