In Supermarket Perimeter's November issue, we highlighted four innovative products that are new to the fresh perimeter. You can read this story and more in our digital issue here.

1. Novolex

Novolex has launched Power Prep bags and rolls for grab-and-go hot sandwiches and other premium to-go fare. Manufactured by Bagcraft, a Novolex brand, the new multilayered bags and rolls keep foods at the height of flavor as they are wrapped, frozen, thawed, reheated and held under heat at the point of sale. The bags ensure customers can savor hot sandwiches, bagels and other fare that were prepared, wrapped and frozen at another location.

2. Bolthouse Fresh Foods

Bolthouse Fresh Foods is launching three carrot-based products. The products include Bolthouse Fresh Carrot Shakers, Carrot Side Dish Sizzlers and Fresh Soup n’ Stewin’ Carrots. Each product will be packaged in compostable packaging, according to the company. The carrot shakers feature a burstable seasoning pouch and baby carrots. The product is sold in three flavors: dill pickle, chili lime and ranch. The Sizzlers contain sliced carrots and feature three sauce varieties: garlic herb, sweet honey heat and herb vinaigrette. Fresh Soup n’ Stewin’ carrots are pre-cut, simplifying meal prep.

4. Kwik Lok

A partnership between Kwik Lok, which makes bag closures, and Trustwell, a software maker and food technology company, will offer closures that will not only provide detailed information about the food and where it came from, the information could be accessed by retailers and consumers. The closures will have two-dimensional barcodes — QR codes — that provide information to ensure product safety and regulatory compliance with the Food Safety Modernization Act and Sunrise 2027.
